1995 - Farmhouse - Cape Winelands

This thatched roof farmhouse, completed in 1995, makes close reference to the historical architecture of renowned South African architect Sir Herbert Baker.  The house was planned to ensure that every mature old oak tree on the site was saved.  A high standard of materials and finishes was used, including yellow wood for the floors and teak for the doors and windows. 

1994 - Luxury Private Home, Stellenbosch, South Africa

A contemporary twist to Cape architecture.  One of the more fun projects in the portfolio using a significant amount of creativity to capture the spirit of the local built environment.

1993 - Remodel of Luxury Private Home, Stellenbosch

This private home, close to the University of Stellenbosch was remodeled to capture the feeling of the historical buildings on campus.  The project was published in South African Garden and Home.  Click here to see additional images. 

1993 - Elementary School, North Pine Village, Western Cape

The forms of the school have been articulated to relate to the scale of the surrounding residential neighborhood.  Being an elementary school the design is playful and bright colours enliven the architecture. 

1991 - Luxury Private Home - Somerset West, South Africa

The photographs illustrate the first phase of construction of this contemporary house, which was designed on a steep south facing site, to take full advantage of magnificent views to the south while at the same time capturing the north sun. 

1991 - House for a couple, Stellenbosch, South Africa

The design makes reference in a contemporary way to the historic Victorian Architecture of Stellenbosch.  Drama is introduced by the high volume living area and the skillful introduction of natural light into the interior. 

1990 - Luxury Private Home - Stellenbosch, South Africa

A thatched roof family home on the banks of the Eerste River.  The design makes reference to the historic architecture of renowned South African Architect Sir Herbert Baker.

Selected Projects from Abroad*

1999 - Luxury Private Home - Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

This contemporary designed house has the very latest technological features.  It was published in an article entitled "Smart House" in Utah Business Magazine. 

1998 - Salt Lake City Squash Club, Utah, USA

Six squash courts and a gym.  This contemporary design building received the 1999 Utah AGC Project of the Year award.

1997 - Headquarters, Utah Local Governments Trust, USA

Office building constructed for a non-profit public entity in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.  A highlight of the design includes a hand painted mural inside the rotunda above the entry foyer, of landscape scenes of the mountain west by a local artist, commissioned by the CEO of the company.
